It sounds like the title of a university thesis, but really, it’s simple and, above all, necessary!


To evaluate the effectiveness of a search tool in the field, researchers use the "detection probability" index.A good tool or search method has better chances of finding a victim.


However, there is a "hiccup": the detection probability often changes depending on the terrain (density of the forest, proximity to water bodies, buildings) and several other parameters, such as atmospheric pressure, temperature, altitude, etc.
